A visit from Jeff Jarvis

Jeff Jarvis, the proprietor of high-traffic blog BuzzMachine, paid a visit to my Press Ethics class today to discuss blogs and the future of blog journalism. He used to be a TV critic for TV Guide, founded Entertainment Weekly, and is now a cog in the Sy Newhouse publishing machine via Advance.net

I dug a lot of what he had to say, but, in addition to being a user of the word "grok," the man is a total blog triumphalist, which kind of puts me off. While he's pretty much right with stuff like this that lays out what blogs do better than other media, like many bloggers he's completely enraptured by the medium and views it like proud parents view their offspring.

Not that he's not right about a lot of things - read his site to get a taste of that - I just think he has his tunnel-vision blog-goggles on a bit too tightly.
