Exhaust Fan and Teeth

Finally we have our new bathroom exhaust fan installed.  It looks really nice.  I'll let you know how well it works when Drew takes a shower bright and early tomorrow morning (he has some law school thing to attend all day).  This concludes our initial chunks of repairs to the house.  Time to give our bank account a break. 
Oh, Roger had his teeth cleaned at the vet today.  I'm sure he didn't appreciate it, but he had a lot of tartar.  I will have to try to brush his teeth more often, even though he hates it.  As weird as it sounds, fortunately, Bailey doesn't have teeth so we don't have to fight with her about that. 

Ice Cream

I had ice cream last night, for the first time in... ummm..... I can not remember!  Drew bought that neopolitan stuff, or as I call it, vanilla-chocolate-strawberry.  I had some chocolate and vanilla because I don't like strawberry ice cream.  Actually, I tried a little strawberry just to make sure I still don't like it, and yeah, I still don't. 

Dumb Flyers

How could the Sabres go from a lead of 3-0, and lose the game in a shoot out?  I don't like the Flyers.  They should not have won yesterday's game and I don't care if you disagree with that opinion.  I am done with feeling sympathy towards another team, or fans of another team, for anything...  ever.

Congratulations

Congrats to Drew on his accomplishment!!  I am very proud of him!!!!!! 

My Cold

I have a cold.  Yesterday I figured I'd take some cough syrup, so I went in search of it.  Since I haven't needed cough syrup in a long time, I looked at the expiration date and it said 08/06.  I bought new cough syrup at the grocery store yesterday evening.  One serving of that, combined with quality sleep, and I am feeling much improved this morning. Hopefully the symptoms won't worsen during the day, but we'll see! 

Snow Wrap-up and My Politics Blurb

The 2 inches of snow has turned to a heavy wet slush.  It's very difficult to shovel it now.  It was funny, this morning I saw neighbors throwing salt on their driveways and stuff.  Maybe they were being cautious...?  I never thought of doing such a thing in my life. 

Is anyone following the democratic primary?  Who would you pick at this point, Hillary or Obama?  I'd pick Hillary if I was voting right now.  I believe she has good plans, and enough political experience (knowing the ins and outs) to make change happen.  However, it'd be surprising if she won.  That's because people just dislike her.  The name "Hillary" makes people go "eww".  I used to be one of those people, but I changed my view.  So, I'm figuring that eventually I will be voting for Obama (probably) when he's running for President. 

Thursday Update

I have a 4 day week this week, only because I'm taking off tomorrow!  (We don't get days like Presidents or MLK)  The plan is to take the cats to the vet, and then we have a contractor coming to install an exhaust fan in the bathroom.  Lots of people at work are already worrying about tomorrow's forecasted snow, so I'm glad I won't be there to hear about it all day long. 

Did you guys see the eclipse last night?  Drew and I watched it from our dining room.  Cool stuff!

At work I had to get a new computer because my old one died.  When I came to work Monday morning, it was rebooting itself repetitively.   Not sure what happened, but it was toast.   I was using a laptop temporarily, and yesterday finally got my new desktop PC.   I have spent hours configuring it back to the way it was, which included installing lots of software.   Takes a while.

I have some pictures for you!   We had 3 basement windows and the side door replaced on Monday.  The old windows were rotting, and the side door was totally not designed to be an outdoor door.  It had a glass knob and keyhole and everything!  So, check out these 'before' and 'after' pictures.  Click here to go to the album.

Commuting in the ice

Typically, I take the train home, and drive the car from the parking lot to our house.  Then I go pick up Drew a few hours later from the train station.  Yesterday I figured I'd let Drew deal with the car, and I would take the subway/trolley, which doesn't require driving at all.  So the subway ran perfectly, but the trolley was a different story.  There was ice on the wires so they couldn't run!  My options were to take the subway back in the other direction to a train station, or take a bus which got me close enough to home.  I took the bus, and then walked.  My commute took an hour and 50 minutes.  Drew's train around 7pm was on time and uneventful.  He only had to spend some time scraping ice off the car. 

Snow on the way?

It will snow in Philadelphia today.  There might even be some freezing rain too.  Enough said, let's close the schools and be in a panic all day about the commute home later this evening.  At the present time, 111 schools have either closed or issued early dismissals.  I hope it snows, but from the way it sounds, we'll be lucky to see an inch of accumulation. 

Hockey Yuckiness

What was up with hockey this weekend?!  On Saturday during the Flyers game, one of the linesmen got hit in the face with a skate and was bleeding and had to be helped off the ice.  Story here.  Although, I don't recommend watching the video because not only does it have the injury, but then huge fights erupt.  Hey, it's the Flyers, would you expect anything less?  They fight too much. 

Then yesterday, Drew and I were listening to the Sabres game over the internet.  We suddenly hear about all this blood on the ice.  Richard Zednik from the Florida Panthers got cut in the neck by a skate.  Gross.  He was rushed to Buffalo General Hospital and is stable.  The game broadcast was strange to listen to because there was no background noise, due to the arena being silent.  The announcers didn't know what to say, and they didn't know if the game would continue.  About 15 minutes later they did finish the game.  Story here.  My dad was at the game and said there was a trail of blood across the ice, and it was pretty bad. 

Roger has a cold

Roger has a cold.  Last night he sneezed, like 10 times quickly in a row.  Then a little while later he did the same thing.  During the night he kept sneezing like this, waking us up.  We had to shut him out of the bedroom.  He's feeling all right because he was playing hide and seek and stuff last night.   He just has a very strange sneeze.  This happened before once... and also Bailey had this problem one time a while back.
