Woo, Long Weekend!

I don't like commercials that use the sound of an alarm clock in them.  That's like the worst sound ever. 

It's the Friday before a long weekend.  Yippee!!  I am having some co-workers over to my house tonight.  Gonna have pizza and salads.  Looking forward to it. 

Light & Pumpkin

Look, we put a new light outside our back door.  Drew did the electric work, so good job! 

Also, check out how much our pumpkin has grown.  This guy just randomly started growing last month.  Neat.  It has one little fruit so we'll see what happens with that. You can barely see it in this picture, at the bottom right.

Friday

It's Friday, yay!  We have no plans this weekend, which is a great thing.  Ideally, we'd like to clean out the garage... and I have heaps of laundry to do. 

Drew and I went with Tim, Nicole and Nicholas to a Phillies game on Wednesday.  It was a shut-out and a very quick game.  Good stuff.  I really enjoy going to Phillies games and want to hit at least one more before the year is over.

Cheerleading Article

I read this article and thought it was interesting.  It's about how there isn't enough regulation on cheerleading, which adds risk to an already risky activity.  I guess it would be helpful for starters if cheerleading was viewed as a real sport, because that might ensure coaches get the training they need to handle injury situations, create safe practice conditions, and better report injuries.  I can ensure you that real cheerleading is NOT easy and is physically demanding.  The article points out some of the bad things that can happen (like not catching the person who is flying through the air).  Duh.  I think they put that crap in the article for shock value.  I think the biggest reason people get hurt is because they're trying to do things that are above their level of ability.  Coaches need to flat out tell the girls that something they think would be "a cool thing to do in the routine" should not be done.  Also, creating team camaraderie is important because any bickering between girls could create a loss of focus, which could result in a drop.  Perhaps regulation could train coaches how to handle that stuff. 

Last Weekend

Ok, last weekend my aunt, uncle, and 2 cousins were here.  They had to attend a wedding, and oddly enough the reception was right down the street from our house.  On Sunday, we went to a rain delayed Phillies game.  It was pretty chilly, actually.  Fun times though!  I only took one picture during their visit... and it's of Robin.  So strange that I didn't think to take more pics... I usually do! 

Saturday we went to Michael's 1st birthday party.  He got lots of nice presents and we met many people and many baby boys.

Longwood Gardens

My parents were here this past weekend.  We had a good time.  One of the highlights was going to Longwood Gardens.  It's a really pretty place with lots of gardens and flowers everywhere.  They have a huge conservatory with room after room of all sorts of different plants.  Very neat.  Here are some pictures.  You have your fancy bushes, fountain, giant lily pads, me in front of a tower, pretty gazebo by the water, and my parents by a waterfall.
