Hockey Mom

The first Flyers game.  The "Ultimate Hockey Mom" earned the right to drop the first puck.  Sure she dropped it, but with the help of the "Nation's most popular hockey mom" -- Sarah Palin.  It's not like this was the first hockey game of the season, it was just the first Flyers (who happen to be in swing state Pennsylvania) game.  What was the reaction?  Well, watch the video.

Academy Awards

Did anyone watch the Academy Awards on Sunday?  It was fun to watch.  I liked the people who used their shadows to create pictures of the movie logos.  Shadow Dancers.   That was really neat.  I hadn't seen any of the movies that were up for awards, so I was pretty much out of the loop in that aspect. 

The Apprentice

Anyone watching The Apprentice this year?  We are, as usual.  Although, after one episode, I'm not sure I like the direction it's going.  The show takes place in LA instead of NYC (which I don't like as much).  Strangly enough, while in LA this summer, I happened to take a picture of the house that the contestants lived in during the filming of the show.  That's the picture I attached here.  Anyways, like usual the teams are divided in two.  Whichever team wins the challenge gets to live in the house, while the other team sleeps outside in a tent.  The first episode they spent WAY too much time comparring life in a tent versus a mansion.  Hopefully they won't keep doing that, because I like watching the show for the challenges.  Also, there is no Carolyn or George helping decide who gets fired, but Trump's daugher Ivanka instead.  I like her, but that change along with all the other changes is kind of a bummer.  Oh, and the winning project manager remains project manager till they lose, AND gets to sit in on the other teams board room (equivalent to 'tribal council' in Survivor lingo).  We'll see how the season goes.  Next episode is at 9pm tonight. 

A Dumb Show

You know what show I can't stand watching?  The History Channel's Mega Disasters show.  They take a city, like NYC for example, and explain what would happen if a big hurricane hit.  They show all this stupid footage of floods and buildings blowing over, but it's pictures from other storms.  They have "experts" then saying how all sorts of damage will occur and people will dye, etc.  Not only do they do this sort of thing with NYC, but they have other scenarios such as the west coast experiencing a tsunami.  I just get annoyed watching this show, so I changed the channel. 

New TV

We have a new television! It's a Samsung, 23 inch wide screen LCD. It just arrived today and so far it is pretty neat. Our old tv was a 13 inch tv/vcr thing. Like Drew said on his blog, it started eating our VCR tapes, so we decided it was time to move on. We thought about just getting a regular kind of tv, but we prefer to do things once and right, so we splurged on this sucker. So far so good. This picture was taken not on wide screen mode, and for some reason it makes the screens look equal, but I assure you they are not.

Survivor

What do you all think of Survivor this year?  I think it's pretty crappy.  To me, I feel like the last episode was the final episode.  Stephanie wins. 
Really, I don't like watching when one team gets wiped out this badly - and it's the team I keep hoping will pull through.  But they don't, and I get angry.  Hey, I blame the HUGE reward challenges sponsored by annoying companies.  The show is giving the players too much... it's like the one team is staying at a hotel at this point.  Nice built shelter, shower, bathroom, food, gallons of water....  They've far supassed the point where the loser team could beat them.  And that's just based on the fact that people need food and sleep to function to their best abilities.  It's kinda lame, don't you think?  

On the other hand, the Apprentice is really fun to watch.  The final episode is being taped live in one of the NYU buildings.  We're gonna try to get tickets.  How cool would that be.
